VIDE Experiences · From 2006 not only in the summer but also in the winter · VIDE Summer- and Winterexperiences ·

_ VIDE stands for emptiness, for exclusive space.
Space which needs to be filled.
Preferably by potentially creative people like you.
By unique people who dare to ask difficult questions.
Who know what they want, and who are impatient.
Who are eager to develop their talents.
Your questions, needs and ambitions form the starting point to our relationship. A relationship based on the space that VIDE offers.
Voice your questions, needs and ambitions! Using as many pages as you like. Write, draw, doodle, sketch or scribble. Challenge us with your world of words and thoughts. Send them to info@viavide.com .
We will soon tell you how much space VIDE has for you!

_ Every year VIDE organises Summer Design Experiences. In a Summer Experience participants receive an intensive but enjoyable summer introduction in the course structure. Check www.viavide .com regularly to find out about the experiences which will be organised the coming summer and applicable rates.
Winter Design Experiences, with a content comparable with the Summer Experience will be organised in the beginning of January.

Based on one or more concrete assignments the necessary tools are taught with these specialties. A team of top designers is involved in the summer design experiences. Short excursions are organised to European cities that are interesting to the field. Visits are paid to renowned agencies as well as museums for instance. There are also a number of varied activities on the programme, including visits to international theatre performances and cultural events. An essential part of the experience is cooking and eating together.
During VIDE’s Summer Design Experiences participants will have an Apple computer at their disposal including necessary software to be able to work on the different projects.

In other words, an important experience for the personal development of the participant within a specific field of visual communication. One that you will certainly not be soon forgotten! The experiences are accessible to both professionals and students. There is room for 16 participants per summer experience.

_
Starting in the autumn of 2007, VIDE will organise Autumn and Spring Design Intermezzo's. Design Intermezzo's are short Experiences of one week in which participants will focus on specialities of visual communications. These Intermezzo's will take place in different countries. The Autumn Design Intermezzo 2008 will take place in April, probably in the forests of Surinam ! www.kabalebo.com More information will follow soon! info@viavide.com

_ VIDE also organises workshops and summercourses outside The Netherlands, if necessary or required. Dependent on the theme of the course, VIDE selects one or more talented graphic designers as workshop or summercourse supervisors. We can take care of your collective and individual design experiences: for more specific information, send a message to info@viavide.com .

The participants of 2007 were
Shruti Chamaria (from India)
Lauren Fuller (from the USA)
Barbara Hennequin (from the Netherlands)
Maxime Biekmann (from he Netherlands)
Michael Huang (from the USA) Paul Jongsma (from the Netherlands)
Daan Spangenberg (from the Netherlands)
Soon their results will be on this site, www.viavide.com

General information
During the intensive 2 week course of the VIDE Summer Design Experiences 2007 you and other carefully selected participants, media savvy design students and (future) visual communication experts, will get to meet and learn from several designers and design critics which represent the upper tier of Dutch Design.
Through experimentation which focuses on analysis, narrative, formal vocabulary and emergent technology, you will be encouraged to open your eyes, re-evaluate High and Low Culture, Art and Commerce, and finally gain exposure to a completely different view on (traditional) Graphic (+Typographic) Design: DE+SIGN RE+SEED
Participants will explore various media, contexts and concepts; all of which will come together in the last week as loose explorations begin to comprise a publication designed by the participants and printed/uploaded in the weeks following the Experience. Participants will not only be learning about design, they will also produce a finished piece of design (each participant will receive 5 copies)!

The first hands-on weekend in The Hague will include an introduction, an intensive workshop, and several thought provoking presentations/discussions followed by a formal briefing on the goals of the course.
On Monday we'll move the stage of the Experience to Berlin, where we'll work on individual and group projects, staying until the Friday of the first week.
After 10.3 Hours of Sightseeing, absorbing history, experiencing the local cuisine, cultural highlights and nightlife, we’ll take the famous high speed train back to The Hague. Here we’ll continue the Experience in the comfortable IDA-hall and have one week to prepare for the final presentation...

But don't worry, from then on it won't be 'all work and no play'!
We'll take a look behind the scenes inside some interesting Dutch design studios and will welcome many interruptions in the IDA-hall as well.
Numerous visitors: Story Tellers, Researchers, those Traditional Dutch Designers, but also Sound New Media Designers, Critics, Clients and Curators will stop by at VIDE to have a chat, a drink, participate in cross disciplinary brain storm sessions and inform you about the State of Design in our country abroad.

Kimberley Majkut from Canada
I just wanted to write and tell you thanks because of the motion piece I created this summer I was hired on as a junior motion designer at a new firm. Thanks again, it was fun.
Angel Lin from the USA
“It was a perfect summer! I didn't know what I was jumping into, but this was wonderful and more than I expected. Chaos and all. I hope Vide enjoyed it as much as we did. I don't think I've been this tired in a long time, both the walking and the all night working. But it was very liberating - believe it or not!”
Diane Chen from the USA
Hannah Kathrin Zenk from Germany T Y P E

”I liked the Experience very much, learned a lot and became sure about my plans for the future. For me The Hague and Berlin were the places to be! Everything was quite spontaneous.”
